Sony Vaio Screen Has Black Flickering Lines

Hi, I'm new to this forum but would appreciate some advice. I've just bought a new sony vaio laptop, i've had it one week and i've noticed a flickering line at the top of the screen. It's there all the time and now it's developed black horizontal lines across the screen once the computer's been switched on for a few minutes. All programs etc seem to be running perfectly, and it's not been dropped or anything. Does it need a replacement screen already? Thanks for any help!
