Not a huge issue here and the problem appears to be resolved now but just wanted to know why something happened. I started up my computer today, it is a Dell XPS and noticed that a couple of the icons on my taskbar's notification area were missing. These were Dell QuickSet and a Windows security thing (and it is genuine not malware, I have checked before) that tells me I have no anti-virus software, as I have none installed. Also, the network icon sill had the red cross on it even though I was connected to my wireless network. I had my computer on battery power and not on a power supply for a very brief period today. Could this have caused this? Why would these icons not appear correctly?

    Thanks

Hi lks2008. It could be just some strange behavior in Windows. I've had this issue happen in the past and normally a reboot of the machine fixes the behavior.

Are you still encountering the issue or did it only happen once?

I never worry about things unless I can recreate them on demand or they won't go away;)

It just happened once today. Restarted and it was fine. The thing is I've had an issue lately when the battery is charging, the computer is slow so I thought having it on battery power earlier may have had some effect.

    Thanks for your help.

No problem. Since it only happened once then I wouldn't worry about it.

If your computer has been acting slow lately then you can always create a new thread on the subject if you need to.

Since this issue is now resolved, please mark this thread as 'Resolved'.
