I have an HP laptop almost 4 years old. I've gotten great advice here before keeping it in good shape and getting malware help.

It has Windows Vista Basic, and Internet Explorer 7. Lately I've been having problems with things like viewing my credit card statement online, printing it, etc. . . Also lately I've been seeing a little yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the lower left corner.

From what I've read, it seems I should update to IE 9. I'm leery of doing that on my own and want to make sure it's done right. For instance, when I go to the Microsoft website and click to get started, it asks me if I want to run it or save it. Not sure.

    Advice please?????????????

    Thanks,
    Betsy

Hi Betsy. I would definitely upgrade your computer to IE9. IE7 is out of date now and you would probably see some benefits in upgrading such as more security features and faster speed in browsing webpages.

Go ahead and save the IE9 file to your desktop and then run it. The installation should be fairly smooth.

Hi Betsy, I agree with Evan - you will benefit from it. My Question is, are you getting Updates from Windows & MS?
IE8 was available in Updates and you could choose to Run or not.
I'm not sure whether IE9 was also offered through Updates. That's the easiest way to acquire. Cheers Neil.;)

IE9 is much improved over previous versions. Not the best by any stretch, but much better than it was. Used it for the first time last week and its quite fast.

It was offered. Makes me wonder if they have updates turned off. Hope not. Bad idea if they are.
