Have a computer (not this one) that all of a sudden refuses to access a particular website. It happens whether using IE or Chrome. Machine is Win7, AMD Quad core, 4GB Ram, 1GB HD. Website works fine, can access from other computers with no problem.

    1. Have cleaned out all temp files
    2. Ran virus check with installed Vipre as well as Malwarebytes.

Makes no sense as this is the only site machine is having trouble with. Has been working fine until recently

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

I can't connect either. Are you sure you haven't spelt the address incorrectly?

Scratch that, Google has the site cached, but currently I cannot connect. Obviously the site is having some issues at the moment.

Perhaps like google, you have the page locally cached?

Actually I never went to the site on this machine before the problem developed on the other machine, but I just cleared the cache and still went right to it. Kinda strange

It is strange, the error I'm getting is connection timed out, It could be an issue along the line somewhere. where's the location of the problem machine and is it using the same service provider? The site could have underwent a recent DNS change which hasn't fully filtered through yet.

It is using the same ISP. But is located about 12 miles from where I am right now. There is some one there who keeps checking it for me. Connection timed out is the error we are getting on that one too. DNS change is a possabilty, but I would have thought it would be all set after 3-4 days.

Only thing I can suggest is to contact the ISP or the lottery site themselves, this does not appear to be an issue with the computer and it's unlikely you can do anything about it from there.

I can connect via a browser to the site, but traceroutes timeout.

The timeout occurs on a Bell South router. (74.254.101.195) and on another system it times out on an AT&T router.

Seems to be some sort of DNS issue, probably the router tables have not been updated if the site's IP address changed.

I would also suspect some type of monitoring or security system could be interfering, due to the quantity of recent DoS attacks against govt sites.

Thank you TonyT for your reply. I also did the same thing and determined that to be the most likely problem. The computer that was unable to access it, can do so again as of yesterday.
