    Hi,

I have yet to upgrade to IE8 and wonder if I am alone. Can I go on using IE7. I use FF exclusively but I have been told that it is better to keep updating Internet Explorer. However, I have heard that IE8 is bloated and my XP doesn't need that. Do I really have to upgrade to each new version?

Your replies will be appreciated. TIA.

Course IE 9 is out but it doesn't run on XP..

I still use IE7 on my main office machine.... Long story, but I'll be going straight to IE 9 when I do a much long over due OS reinstall.

ps. I wouldn't call IE 8 bloated at all. And if you install it but never use it, it couldn't be bloated;)

With Steve here, IE8 installed but rarely used. Firefox is my main browser and I'm happy with my current setup.

Hi Ann, you are not alone. I am using IE7 on my office machine, and also at home on my other computer, they are both Win xp.
Generally speaking, I am also worried, that a newer version of almost any application, is more bloated than the previous one.

Thanks for the information. I did not know that IE9 is not for XP.

wildfire and ThomasJK - thanks so much for the input. One for IE8 and one for IE7. I'll probably hold up on installing IE8 after reading your input. Thanks a bunch.

I have 4 PC's with XP. All of them have IE8 on them. All of my friends that have XP also use IE8 and have not had one of them complain. When it first came out, there were a few problems. I have had it and so have friends for months and not a complaint. Safer and more secure. M$ doesn't do these updates because they have nothing better to do. It is more secure.

Hi Ann. I have also been using IE8 on my computers as well as on my friends computers as well. IMO IE7 is out of date and even if you rarely use IE, I would suggest upgrading to IE8 just to keep your computer more secure.

Same as MrBill. Have IE8 installed on all Home XP PC's but personally prefer to use Firefox and Thunderbird.
Family members who use IE8 have not had any problems. Cheers Neil.
