need help setting up a d-link DI-624

    hello

    today i reset my router to its factory settings because it was giving me some issues

    unfortunately i forgot how to set it up as far what i should enter in this screen

    on a side note, this is whats showing when i do ipconfig in cmd without the router connected

    ip address: 174.117.xxx.xx
    subnet mask: 255.255.254.0
    default gateway: 174.117.xxx.x

    im also using windows xp sp2

    i hope this is enough info for somebody to help me out

    Click the button to make it assign the address automatically and it should do it for you.

    And some advise, SP2 has not been supported for quite some time by Microsoft, upgrade to SP3 and leave auto update turned on.

    If you want to use a static IP address then enter these figures when using that Dlink router:

    IP Address: 192.168.0.10
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.0.1
    Preferred DNS: 192.168.0.1
    Alt DNS: leave empty, not needed

    Shouldn't the Gateway address be 192.168.0.1 or does this change when using a static IP address. I still have a lot to learn in this area so excuse my ignorance if I am wrong:).

    lets say i want a dynamic ip address, what do i type in?

    by the way can my post please be edited and take off my ip address and other figures , thanks

    You type in nothing, select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and you're set.
