I got it a couple of days ago, and it is as stable as beta 1. I like some of the changes in SM2.1.

Yes, it seems quite stable. Oddly it is handling some extensions better than the 'stable' release. Ghostery being an example of this.

The major puzzle is the way it handles cookies. Typically, it is so easy to delete unwanted cookies, but not so with SM2.1b2

Have you checked the Release Notes for anything relevant to that issue?

I did not check the feature in beta 1, so I don't know if it is a 2.1.x characteristic or what. I could find no mention of a different way of handling cookies.

There have been a few architecture changes, mainly because of the influence of Firefox 4. As is always the way with SeaMonkey, any changes upset some purists & please others. I'm not that happy about the bookmarking changes myself. Although, overall I like 2.1.

I have tried installing SM V2.1.1 for over a week. For some reason I cannot migrate the profiles over from SMV1.1.18 to V2.x.

I have deleted the profile folder in SM 2.x, but during the install The option to migrate the email, bookmarks, etc never pops up. I even ran the profile -P program and still no go.

After trying for several times now it tells me that SM is running and to close it.

Checking my task manager to see what is running and it's not running in the back ground.

I gave up and reinstalled V1.1.18.

    Larry,
you posted at sillydog.org, and there has been an extensive discussion about your issues. I don't know if you did not read the replies, or did not understand them, but please take another look at them. If you still don't get it, please ask. But, the problem is that v.1.x and 2.x have different profiles, and you have been trying to install 2.x in the same folder as 1.x. You can use -p (profile switch) of your 1.x profile for 2.x, till doomsday, and it won't work, because many files of the 2.x profile have a different format from those of 1.x.

"Installing SeaMonkey 2.0.12 into the same location where an 1.x version of SeaMonkey is installed will result in a non-working installation. Either install SeaMonkey 2.0.12 to a different location - for example the default installation location as given by the installer - or un-install the older version of SeaMonkey first. "

I dont deny that I have posted this issue on another forum, and I have followed all suggestions and advice.

There has been a documented BUG 525038 for this issue that I am having.

My reason for posting on another forum is maybe some new thoughts could be generated or a solution to the BUG 525038 which is listed on the SM website.

At this time they show no solution to the BUG so I thought maybe someone here could help.

I have not given up on trying to install SM2.x. Just taking a rest right now....:p
