    Operating System is WinXP SP3

I am the only user of my computer and Guest Account is turned OFF.
After booting, my system used to go straight to the box for me to type in my password. Now when it boots, it goes to my User Name which I have to click to make the box appear for me to type in my passoword. How can I get the computer to return to showing the box for my password?

That didn't do it TonyT. I was using the Welcome Screen but when I booted I did not have to click on my ID to open the sign-in password box. I "THINK" before all this happened I did NOT have the Guest Account listed under my User Accounts. I had out of town company and added the Guest Account. When they left I turned off the Guest Account and I "THINK" this is when things changed. Is there an easy way to delete the Guest Account?

I doubt Windows would work if it isn't there....

Local Users & Groups is not available if have XP Home, only XP Pro.

However, you can create the Local Users & Groups Snap-in in XP Home:

Start > Run.... Type mmc.exe and press Enter.
File > Add/Remove Snap-in... and click the Add button.
Scroll down until you find Local Users and Groups and click the Add button.
In the dialog box that opens, choose Another computer and enter 127.0.0.1 (the local loopback address) and click Finish.

Note: Even though there is an option on this screen for Local computer, if you choose this you will be presented with the following message: "This computer is running Windows XP Home Edition. This snapin may not be used with that version of Windows. To manage user accounts for this computer, use the User Accounts tool in the Control Panel." By selecting Another Computer you can work around this warning.
Close button then OK button to return to the newly created MMC console.
File > Save to save the new console. By default it will be saved to the Administrative Tools folder.
    Close the MMC window.

I'm marking this thread as "sloved" because the problem isn't that great. I can live with this minor annoyance.

Yes, do those steps, then access Users & Groups and disable the Guest account. (don't delete it)

From the Run command on the Start menu enter control userpasswords2.

Next un-check the box Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

Sorry 'bout that Steven R Jones. I thought we, forum users, were not allowed to leave a thread open indefinitely which is why I marked it resolved.

    RESOLVED has been removed.
