I was surfing the net and found http://www.labgear.net by accident. This site invites one to connect to them using Remote Destop. This seems to work. However when I try to connect to my netbook, I get the message "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: ".
My main computer is a running Windows XP and my netbook Windows 7 Starter. I have tried to set everything up as advised by several sites. What I do notice is that in System/Remote I only have Remote Assistance option not the Remote Desktop but I seem to have Remote Desktop program on both my computers.
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

All Windows Home versions and Starter - can only call out to a Professional version and can NOT receive calls in.

You might want to look onto TeamViewer which is pretty easy to use and will do what you want.

I have tried Teamviewer and it works, thank you
The only problem is that it seems to leave Teamviewer.exe running as a process after I closed it down. Is it supposed to do that?

Uninstall Team Viewer and either reinstall it or not. Sounds like you installed it and when prompted chose to have it run as a Service. In fact, you don't even have to install it, just doubleclick the Teamviewer download and select "Run" each time you use it and it will work.
