    Vista Home Basic-
Used computer has 4 old user folders listed in C:\Users. They do not show on the log in screen or in the User Change area.

    1. How do I rename my admin account appropriately to stop showing under the old username in the folders view?

    2. How do I remove the old users folders in the above location?

For example I have showing in C:\Users:
    Folder: (old non admin username)
Folder: (old non admin username).(old non admin username)-PC
    Folder: (old admin username)
    Folder: (old admin username).MAIN

My new Admin name is listed nowhere so, I assume it is actually one of these?

thank you but that is not the problem. i stated the user accounts do not show in the main uac page. only their folders show in C:\users.

    Appropriate fix is:
activate the real vista admin account through .cmd
then delete necessary folders showing in C:\users

i assume something went wrong when the previous owner performed the task shown in the video....
what is the meaning of the folder username.MAIN? is this the main admin user folder?

You have answered the question yourself:confused:

Sorry I missed your point but I cannot see that there is a problem leaving the old user account folders where they are once the account is deleted.

That will just be the name someone else gave the account. I think your best bet is to delete all the old accounts and then go into safe mode and create a new Administrator account for yourself.

There is no need to remove the registry entries, they do no harm being left in place.

I am also giving answers to another thread of yours which is very similar to this one:confused:

You jumped into that thread after I had already fixed the problems there. Just left the current status in the last post. I believe I said I was starting a new thread there. If not sorry. For search purposes, should seperate issues not still be in seperate threads?

As for I answered my own question.... Yes I did, prior to your arrival but after posting the question. I found the answer after asking & then posted it, again for search purposes & to avoid anyone wasting their time trying to answer the problem. Thank you for attempting anyway.

again, old accounts were deleted. all that remained was their folders containing many hundreds of GB's of files. This is why I would want to delete them. And I did as per my post previously. the .MAIN account is unfortunately linked to mine now & I don't feel like starting a new..... if I did creating a new admin account & then deleting this one as you stated would be the way. thank you,

sorry for any confusion. sometimes though you ask a question. play around while waiting for input, & find the answer yourself.

    Clarification-

The linked thread above is focused on my deletion of the Administrator Accounts Registry Key & the repair or actions necessary to get back into the computer.
FIX:Booted into safe mode & installed backup of registry created through ccleaner prior to the action that locked me out.

This current thread was for the appropriate action to take in order to delete old users account folders left behind AFTER the actual user accounts in the UAC change screen were removed. Their Folders & Files remained in C:\Users even after their accounts were deleted, leaving many hundreds of GB's of files behind that were unwanted.
FIX: Activate Hidden Vist Admin through .cmd allowing you to delete folders
