Is there a guideline telling how many cores and threads can be used when multiple MS Office applications are running?

    Any performance comparison benchmark for MS Office (e.g. Outlook + Words + Excel + Project) on Intel i5-460M, i5-580M, i7-720QM, i7-840QM ?

I am still interested to know. Can anyone provide such benchmark info please?

B.t.w., it seems that i5 and i7 are outdating technologies. So, if benchmarks are available for the upcoming Sandy Bridge chips, I'm very happy to know.

I wouldn't know why this would be important to you, it is not like Office uses a lot of CPU time

    All Desktop CPU Charts 2010

The all-new CPU charts now include 33 AMD processors and 44 Intel products. We included every product line starting with a Celeron, Core 2 Duo and Quad as well as Core i3, i5 and i7 models and AMD's Athlon II and Phenom II offerings with two, three, four and six cores. A total of 30 individual benchmarks allow users to compare performance in synthetic benchmarks, application, audio/video and power consumption categories that consider idle and peak system power requirements. Compare high clock speeds against a high core count and find your next CPU, or compare your existing processor with the latest products!
