This window appeared about three days ago, and if I click on anything in the box my computer freezes and I have to reboot it manually. Also, it has been going to sleep and never waking up! I have to reboot manually, and I have received the CHKDSK screen twice. I skipped it the first time and let it run the 2nd.

Finally, I've had to reboot the computer after rebooting it, b/c it seems to freeze before it turns on all the way. It freezes up while on the internet now, as well.

Help? I'm not sure if I posted in the right area!

You can try doing a System Restore back to before the problem started. Read about System Restore in Help and Support.

If you have drivers disks that came with the computer or any hardware you have added, you can run those.

Disconnect any added/connected hardware and see if one of those is the problem.

If the driver is identified you should go to the manufacturer's website and find updated drivers. If the System Restore works, at least go to the computer manufacturer's website and get all the major driver updates. An important one is the chipset drivers.

If I find an "Unknown Device ", I disconnect all the added hardware first, no luck, I start looking for updates for all the major drivers.

Restart the computer often during updating so that any new drivers can be re-loaded.

    Mattman,

I apologize for the wait, but I will look into the information above...but now I am getting a 'corrupted disk' warning.

If I am thinking of the same error, we have had some of those before, so search this forum for corrupt or corrupted. I am not sure if we were able to find a solution though.

Ok, so I let CHKDSK run, and it took quite a while (about 3 hours). So, everything seems to be fine. Thank you for your help!
