    When I attempt to open Computer Management(compmgmt.msc). I get the following message. "MMC cannot open the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\COMPMGMT.MSC.

    This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file.

    The file is in the \windows\system32 directory and I am logged on with admin. rights.

    This is the only administrative tool that seems not to work, all others are fine. Any help would be appreciated. If you need more info please let me know.

    Thank you in advance......Lou

    In the Start Search box type cmd, right click the cmd.exe file on the Start menu and click Run as administrator

    In the command window type Regsvr32 Msxml3.dll and press Enter. Also type Regsvr32 Msxml6.dll (again Enter).

    Close the command prompt.

    Start->RUN and type MMC

    File->Open
    Drill down to -> C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\COMPMGMT.MSC

    ps. Did you google-> MMC cannot open the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\COMPMGMT.MSC and see that you're not alone. I got the above from one of the hits.
