Did you check that the RAM is compatible with your motherboard?

Run your mobo through the www.crucial.com Memory Advisor and see what is compatible. The Scanner Tool is probably the easiest.

    I don't think so ....

    FYI ....

    DDR = Double Data Rate

DIMM = Dual Inline Memory Module

All current modules are DIMM's and DDR rated

According to Crucial (assuming I have the correct motherboard - Diamond Flower (DFI) INFINITY NFII Ultra ) ....
    You bought ....
    which should work for you.

You may have a faulty RAM module or slot - check them out by installing a single module in one slot and testing. Move the module to the next slot and test and finally to the third slot and test. Repeat for each of the 3 modules and post back with the results.

What makes you think that you need a BIOS update? BIOS updates should only be applied if the newer BIOS offers facilities you require.

I will see if I can find the BIOS on the manufacturer's web site.

I tried that tested each 1 gig in each 1 slot at a time and it beeps. Right now i have geil 512mb x2 -1gig 2 sticks of ddr400 pc4000 ram in there and it sees it no beeps its like i cant put over a gig of ram on the board. Is there a switch or pin to make it see 3 gigs of ram. It beeps when i test each slot with the pc3200 but not the geil ram and those are 512mb sticks

If you got the INF. NF4 Ultra, the only supported 1GB memory sticks are:

    • DDR333 MT 1024 BUFFALO DDR333-1GB-PC2700U Double
    • DDR500 Ballistix 1024 Crucial DDR500-1GB-PC400-56278 Double
    • DDR500-1GB-PC400-56278 Double Teamgroup DDR500 1024MB Xtreem Double
    • DDR500 Samsung - UCCC 1024 OCZ DDR500 1024MB EL Dual CH Gold Double

Arie responded while I was researching, but it looks like he has the answer :) .....

Can you identify the bios beep code from here
Footnote - I was clearly looking in the wrong part of the site for that info .

That URL is no longer available.

To identify your board download SIW and look under motherboard for details.

That new URL indicates an Award BIOS, not a Phoenix BIOS, in which case the codes, which are very limited suggest memory error if this applies
which reinforces the thought that the memory is not compatible.

Well, you should have just looked up your board on the DFI site... is that so hard?

    INF. NFII ULTRA

That one doesn't support any 1GB sticks.

    Select Series - Lanparty

Select Model - Lanparty NFII Ultra

Sorry to hear that .......... Can you do any better re: a manufacturer, brand or additional specs (recommended timings)

First off, your board (assuming a DFI Ultra II Infinity) was a step down from the DFI LanParty NF II UltraB with the Greenish Yellow UV sensative PCI slots. These were both good overclockers but the NF II UltraB was was King of the DFI socket 462 offerings. This board required a manual reset or clearing of CMOS anytime one changed memory. The jumper is in a hard to reach spot just below the last PCI slot and towards the back of the board. I'm not sure where it is on the Ultra II Infinity.

If you are trying to overclock your current CPU, we are going to need to know exactly what you have under the hood and what you are trying to achieve.

Once you have identified the CPU, I might be able to make some memory recommendations but we may have a tough time locating the same. You definately want to go after fast, low latency memory. To give you an example, I could run PC3200 Corsair XMS 2-2-2-5 but couldn't even boot with XMS 2-3-2-6 when pushing a 333 MHz Barton Core 2500+ to 2.4GHz on an NFII UltraB. To further confuse the issue, PC3200 OCZ Platinum 2-3-2-6 runs flawlessly when pushing the same CPU to 2.6GHz.

Don't read too much into this - I'm not saying you are trying to overclock your board nor suggesting that you do so. I'm just trying to tell you that these are sensative boards which require that one clears and resets CMOS when swapping things around like memory or CPUs. Try that first using the CMOS jumper. (note - you will need to go through all BIOS settings page by page with your motherboard manual in hand)

Personally, I think you bought into some Marketer's bag of tricks with the "Extreme Ram" terminology. Next time you should try shopping on the "Top Shelf ".

    ;)

    I fixed the link.

Click the tab "Memory Support ", and you'll see that only 256 and 512MB sticks is supported.

Rockster2U - good to hear from you again :)

The specs for the DFI Ultra II Infinity are ambiguous ....

On the specs page it states ' Supports up to 3 Gb Memory'

Yet on the Memory Support page it shows no module > 512Mb, but Crucial list 1 GB modules for this board.

    http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=LANPARTY NFII Ultra

    :confused::confused:

And there appears to be no manual available for download.
