Is it possible to move a new toolbar I have created on my taskbar, over to the left side, just to the right of the QUick Launch? I find that I instinctively look to the left when I want to open up a program/folder, and it seems more natural now. I created a toolbar, but it is all the way over on the right, just to the left of the system tray.

I tried right- and left-clicking, then dragging, but it would never go to the left side. Is this possible? I want a new toolbar, because it opens up automatically, so I can then select a particular file inside the folder that is linked to on the toolbar. I have had folders in the quick launch, but they never opened up automatically to reveal their contents.

You can drag it where you want it. It's kind of hard to explain but, if you put your cursor just to the right of the name on the toolbar, then click and hold your left mouse button, you can drag it over to the left side.

Try pointing your cursor on the separator to the left of the name so you see a double sided arrow. Then move it to the right until the double arrow disappears. Then click and drag it to the left. When you get it there, the contents of the toolbar might be expanded across your taskbar. If so, click the separator on the right end and drag it to the left until you just see the name of the toolbar. If you don't understand all this, sorry, but I told you it's kind of hard to explain. :)

Make sure your taskbar is unlocked. Slowly move mouse to the right/front of the toolbar you wish to move. When you have it it in the right spot it will change to an open ended arrow, when you see the arrow left click hold and drag. All of the toolbars you may have on the taskbar can be dragged and rearranged in this manner.

NOTE* Important that the drag be performed on the front of the tooolbar. A drag on the end will only expand or contract (stretch) the toolbar.

Have you considered making and adding a shortcut to the new toolbar folder you desire and just adding this to "quicklaunch toolbar ". Taskbar real-estate can be used for other things and at times is challenged for space. Just food for thought.

Just found a reference to someone suggesting that you show text/title of toolbars and this will allow you to just click on the title and drag it. Worth a shot.

Just right click somewhere (avoiding icon) on the toolbar and an option to show title wiill be available. Use this and the a simple left click on the title will change the mouse icon to a hexed arrow which when held will allow a drag/placement. Once placed removed text/title and lock taskbar once again.

That did it. Man I don't know why it was so hard to do--although if this stuff were easy to move around, then I'd get more calls to help restore the taskbar to its original state, so I guess this is a good thing. All is well. My folder is now sitting right next to my quick launch bar, just like I wanted. Actually, after showing that hexed arrow, I moved it and it formed a new toolbar on the bottom (making two rows), before moving it back up to the top row, uniting both--if that makes any sense.

    Thanks both of you.
