Also, when I click for a new pg (as in starting this thread) the pg opens in a separate tab, but the browser remains on the current pg instead of going to the new one.

    Win 7 Pro 64
    FF 3.6.11

Check the keyboard for a stuck Ctrl key. Holding down one of the Ctrl keys while spinning the mouse wheel changes the text size on web pages.

To change the way tabs work, in Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>General tab and in the "Tabs" section, click on the Settings button. "Always switch to new tabs when they are created" should be checked to solve the "stays on current page" problem.

After making whatever changes you want in that windows, click OK and OK to save the changes.

    Thx Miz,
I didn't know the Ctrl key could fxn that way.
I'm using Firefox and there have been no changes made to the settings prior to this problem.

Just checked and the tabs are now fxn'ing correctly. Makes me suspect a virus, though protection is up to date. Will scan sys.

I've seen a few settings change after an update or two from Microsoft. That may be the explanation.

If you hold the Ctl key down and move the mouse wheel changes the text size in Firefox too.

Right - we covered this bit. It was the "tabs gone wild" that was in question, though the issue appears to have resolved itself. Quite strange!

If all is resolved, why don't you mark your thread as such?

Should you not know how to do that, this is what it says in FAQ:
"....... near the top of your thread you’ll see Thread Tools. Click the down arrow to expand the drop down menu, at the bottom of it you’ll see Mark this thread as solved. Click on it to mark your thread as solved. "

Still hoping someone has some insight as to what happened to the tabs.

Sorry, I hadn't realized that you were still waiting for an explanation.
I find that after an update Firefox does do funny things, has forgotten kept passwords, changes the resolution, the way tabs work etc. :( Just being tolerant with the poor thing and changing things back to the way I want them always seems to do the trick. :) Till the next update! :D

Funny you should say this. I think there was an update just prior to this problem. Then there was another one today, which makes no sense to me. So maybe you just provided the answer I was looking for.
