    USB Printing Support driver
I have a problem with my printer i HP.deskjet I use it at home what means not every day – for the reason of very expensive cartridges too. The day before troubles began, I printed a few colour prints for friends and I had to replace the colour cartridge as it is gone empty. After change the test print was faultless as well as some following printouts. I also shut down my computer and a Windows update had been downloaded, so I "Shut down after installing updates”. The next day I had to fill a form on web and wanted a printout for my record. The troubles started- HP Deskjet 5550 started ejecting blank pages each time I set to print.
As usual first I shut down all and restart my PC after a while. Same thing happened – the screen picture of cartridges level appeared and supposed to be printing – blank again. I went down to see all the settings. No effect. I disconnected printer, uninstalled the driver – reinstalling strictly following the wizard procedure from original CD and from net. No success anyway. I send a call for support ti HP- but no answer or suggestion.
For some observations (PowerSuite tool) I presume that there must be some conflict on USB Printing Support driver after so many Win updates.
Can anybody suggest (step-by-step, please), how to repair the USB Printing Support?

Did you try connecting the printer to another USB connection. When you start the reinstallation process the USB cable has to be disconnected from the printer. You will be instructed during the installation process when to connected the USB cable.

Unless I have the wrong Model shown by HP - this Printer is a commercial type? It weighs 115kgs packed!!!!
Am I wrong and you have a desktop printer?
Your best choice may be to take it to the Local Dealer for service. Neil.

Yes, I did everything "by the book ". There is a very picturesque instaling wizard.
It is most peculiar that I can print without any difficulties from OS Win 7 on the other partition of the same HD. Same PC, same connection, same driver loaded. PowerSuite does not detect any obsolete printing support driver in that partition. But most tools for photo and designing I have on XP partition.
PowerSuite even successfully downloads the update driver for USB printing support (on XP partition), but then repeatedly fails to install it.
HP Deskjet 5550 is a desktop inkjet printer. I am using it for some 5 years.

longstride - THANKS -you are ingenuous. That definitely worked. :)

Just for other distressed MS Win XP users- the switch must have been changed by one of the last "updates ", as I never got to arrange DEP myself.
    Thanks again
