It pops up ea time you run a program, and is a waste of time. I mean, would I fire a program I DIDN'T want to run?

Its a security measure to stop a program from running without your prior knowledge. Your security settings will stop it but only if you lower the security level (not recommended).

There is probably something you can edit in the registry that will stop the pop up appearing but someone else will have to help you with that.

    Thx Mark.
Hopefully someone will post a solution. I agree w/ you, lowering the security level is probably not a good option.

No, but a nasty might :)

You can Control UAC by typing UAC into Orb > Start, but it would be most unwise to disable it, unless of course you want to lower the security level on the computer.

The lowest I would go is the setting that eliminates the darkening of the screen whenever a UAC warning pops up.

Pete, so what you're saying is I'd be wise to just live w/ it(?).
You're always right, though this time it's not what I was wanting to hear.

Yes - it is a Security feature of Windows 7 and of Vista. It was much less friendly in Vista as I understand it.

You bet it was. It was so annoying that I had to turn it off. :(
