In the C Drive there are 3 folders with paddle locks. $Recycle Bin, Config.msi and Documents and Settings. I Would like to unlock them.

Hi wahlroot, I found this on Google - see if it helps.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2022295/

The following registry value may be modified to choose the number of files that may be selected while maintaining the context menu options.

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
    Name : MultipleInvokePromptMinimum
    Type : DWORD
    Range: 1 - 16 (decimal)
    Default : 15 (decimal)

A value of 16 is interpreted as "unlimited ".

    Cheers Neil.

If you check "hidden files, folders or drives" you won't see these... would that help? ;)

First of all, Documents and Settings is not a folder, but a Junction Point. Basically it is a system shortcut (for backward compatibility) to the \Users folder.

The Config.msi folder contains backups of files that are being installed or updated during a program installation. Normally this folder and files are deleted automatically when an update installs successfully.

Sometimes the installer program fails to remove these files. You can safely delete the Config.msi folder and files from your hard drive. Just right-click the folder, choose Delete and confirm you want to delete the folder.

The 3 folders are just some of the locked folders. I do not know why I could need these locks in Windows 7 and not in XP.

It is something you should not be thinking about. Set Windows Explorer to Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) & you won't see them.
