History: I have successfully imported data from my XP machine.
Confused: when I do a Win7Pro Start Button search on something (like AAA-) I find that some of my "stuff" (.doc files, .txt files, etc.) are considered "Files" and other similar hits are considered "Documents ". To consolidate all this with a Drag&Drop, I can expose the Documents, but how do I also expose the Files?

    thanks ...

Drag & drop your files into Documents library. That should do it.

Ok ... I will D&D ... but I can't "see" my Files. I have Win7Pro with active XP Mode session and there I can open Explore and see those files on my "C" drive ... but Documents does not show me those files.

    hello tomengers,

What rsinfo is trying to tell you is that a win7 search will search defined/specific areas of drives and folders. Any aaa listed in category "document" will be found and located in the "document library ". All other aaa hits will be "files" located every where else. In other words, aaa's listed in "documents" is not defined by what it is but by where it is.
    What is a "Library:

tomengers, you haven't answered my last question yet. Where are these files located ? Are they in Virtual PC folder or on Win 7 folder ?

Using "Properties" after the Search shows me that 50% of my files landed in C:\Users\tengers\Documents\Memo\ ... while others landed in C:\Users\tengers\Clients. I think I'm ok now that I can see where they live.

Thanks very much for the help ...

Hmmm ... maybe I still have a problem. I deleted all the "Files ", by using "Properties" and getting the full path and deleting. I then rebooted. I then searched again on "AAA" and found those "deleted" entries still retrieved by the Search. When I use the Shortcut value shown in Properties, it sez "specification in Start Box is not valid. make sure Folder exists and path is valid ".

Well ... folder does not exist any longer ... so why is Search still retrieving these File names?

Ok ... emptied Recycle Bin. I have no "external" drives attached. Search still retrieves C:\Users\tengers\documents\Memos\Recipes\ ... "Recipes" has been deleted and no longer exists. It's retrieving Ghost paths ... feels like a "Library" bug ... ??

Well ... yes and no: I discovered that when I deleted a sub-folder and then did a search on a document previously contained in that deleted sub-folder, the search facility would return the full, but now invalid path to the document. When I brought up short cut menu the target patch was there ... I referred to it as a "Ghost Path ". I had emptied the Recycle and unplugged all external thumb drives. I consider it a Library bug, which I now know how to avoid.

    thanks ...

Really can't expand much on details provided in previous message. If I delete a folder perhaps three levels down, then clear the Recycle Bin, and then initiate a Search for a document that was in that folder, the Search results => Properties => Location will show the (now obsolete) full path.
