As has been posted in one of your other threads the safest way to ensure compatible RAM is to use the memory makers Memory Selector.

4 x 2 Gb will serve you just as well as 2 x 4 Gb - as I recall you can only run dual channel.

If the details in "My System" are correct and refer to the system you are inquiring about additional Ram, forget the 8GIG you are running Vista 32bit and 32 bit can only handle 3.3GIG of Ram. If you need 8GIG of Ram you will need Vista 64 bit. :(

The Corsair XMS that you are using now are good Ram and 4 GIG is your maximum for 32 bit OS. It actually is 3.3 Gig.

Kingston HyperX are recommended Ram for this board.

    Take Note of your Manual:

    4 x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)*/1600/1333/1066 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory
    Dual Channel memory architecture
Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
*Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs. Some hyper DIMMs only support one DIMM per channel. Please refer to Memory QVL for details.
*Refer to www.asus.com or the user manual for the Memory QVL(Qualified Vendors Lists).

I am sorry to say, I can not help you there.
This sort of information you might find on a Overclockers Forum.

    In a word - No

The QVL list shows RAM that the mobo maker has tested - clearly they cannot test all compatible RAM. If a Memory Selector indicates that specific RAM is compatible you are 'Good to go' :)

    Is there also a big difference between DDR3 1600 and DDR3 1066.

Of the two DDR3 1600 is the fastest - if your mobo accepts it that should be your first choice. Would you notice the difference? - frankly I have no idea.

The highest RAM frequency officially supported by the i7-860 is 1333 MHz. To reach higher frequencies you have to overclock the processor. I've never done it but that's how I understand it. If you're not familiar with overclocking, get PC3-10666 working at 1333 MHz and standard timings.

Well, make sure that you're not confusing things.

DDR3 1600 is working at 1600 MHz and is also labeled PC3-12800.

DDR3 1066 is working at 1066 MHz and is also labeled PC3-8500.

What you want is DDR3 1333 working at 1333 MHz, also labeled PC3-10666.

In PC3-***** the numbers after the hyphen is the transfer rate (8 x the frequency).

I may be missing something but I can't find those modules on the QVL list or why they are on your "wish list ". They are both 2 x 4 GB and a third option from G.SKILL would be F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL, conforming to Intel's specifications of 1333 MHz as the highest supported frequency.
