I have Windows XP operating system installed. When I go in the CONTROL PANEL, then DISPLAY to POWER SETTINGS, I click to "manage" them but nothing happens. I have tried changing the values in the registry to "3" so the monitor stays on all the time. It turns off after about 15 minutes or so. Anyone ever experienced this before? Anyone know of a fix or why I cannot manage the power settings? It acts like it's going to open them up but never does. Very strange. Thank you!

Hi EricSWB, Welcome to BBS. Have you tried > Right click on empty part of Desktop > Properties > Screen saver > Power. This opens to screen where you can select how you want to have the Monitor and comp operate. Neil.

That option doesn't work. I tried it first but it doesn't do anything or give an error.

I should have asked you to fill in your System Info. What OS are you operating? I assumed it was XP but obviously it's not. Neil.

Just checking, it is not that the screensaver is set to "blank ". The screen goes blank, but the power LED stays green?

    Try using Powercfg.exe
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913622/en-us
(the title is not specific to your problem, but it could be related).

Setting Window's power configuration relies on having a good set of chipset drivers. Look for updated chipset drivers at the computer (motherboard) manufacturer's website.

I have seen problems with opening Control Panel settings after running a registry cleaner. If you know a time when it started, look at doing a System Restore to back before that time. (Make a current Restore Point before you make the changes.)

Power settings are related to the BIOS (startup configuration settings). The BIOS does the work. Check BIOS power settings and you can use "set defaults" (you will need to find out the method of doing it in your BIOS).
