    I basically get a tab called System Properties. It has the tabs Computer Name, Hardware, and Advanced.

    Oh, I see what's happening.
    You don't have any Service Pack installed.
    We can skip system restore steps, since there are no restore points.

    Proceed to step 4 from my reply #51 (Windows updates).
    You have to keep your Vista up to date.
    Failing that is a very first step to get your computer infected.
    You'll have a lot to download and install.

    Updates fail to install. Why is that? Sorry il be back gotta do some stuff around the house

    Well, SP1 came out 2 years ago.
    Does it mean, you never updated Windows?

    In this case....
    Your computer is malware free, so I'll mark this thread as "Resolved" and I'll ask you to start new topic in Windows forum, regarding updates.
