My previous laptop was running Windows XP and had a hardware meltdown and is now dead. I managed to salvage all the data on the HD and have since removed it to behave as an external drive.

I am trying to import/transfer all my old saved Outlook Express emails and folders into Outlook on a new machine running Windows 7 Home Premium and am beyond frustrated as I am new to BOTH Outlook and Windows 7.

I have located and copied the actual .dbx files to a folder on my new machine, but have no idea how to proceed from there.

    Can someone help, please?

    Thank you.

I can't do anything in Outlook Express in order to DO the Store Folder/Store Location function because the machine on which it was running doesn't boot. At the moment, the folders are stored as JUST folders, so I can't access them in Outlook Express at all.

You don't need to do those store folder steps because you already copied the data to the new comp. Just use File > Import-Export. Unfortunately, unless you also copied your Outlook Express WAB file you will have lost your addresses.

I did manage to import my address book (although it gave me error messages and told me it couldn't find a .wab file, they showed up in my contact list anyway)

I tried the same steps for the actual .dbx files, but Outlook/Windows 7 returns error messages of no files found and consequently nothing gets imported. It should work the same was as importing the .wab, yes?

Oh, THANK YOU! This worked like a charm! No muss, no fuss, and an end to pulling at my hair. :)
