I am Running Asus M4N78 Pro, GeForce8300 Motherboard. Running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. When I go to xp mode everything works except the cd/dvd player just shows the virtual cd player. And works as a CD/DVD Rom only It will not recognize it as a burner (Samsung Tru Direct). everything else works in XP mode, ie: all USB's Card Readers I have uninstalled both the Windows Virtual PC and XP mode and re-installed it, but it never shows as a burner only as a Rom Drive. Everything works in Windows 7 and Everything else works in XP mode. Integration features is on, in win XPM Virtual PC setting it DVD Drive as just D: I checked my register and there are no upper and lower filters Just say it is a Rom drive I went to properties and Right clicked D: Drive and there is NO Recording Tab showing at all, I install windows XP motherboard drivers From ASUS web site it still wont recognize itas a Burner I tried Nero, cdburnerXP and Infrarecoder Nothing will work I hve google this and for two day I can't cure it
Anyone have any Ideas on how to solve this

Does the burner work A-OK in Win 7 mode and could easily solve the problem?

The information I have seen from MS suggests that its read only in XP mode. Only if you have a USB (external) burner could you use the Attach function and use it in write (burn) mode.

Arie That is what I was beginning to think that's maybe XPM is read only. The idea of an use writer is a good idea, I down load stuff in XPM while reading stuff and was wanting a transfer so I could use it in w7 I just have to use a thumb drive or sddisk's I don't thinks an External writer would justify the expense of what I am doing
    Thanks John

You should be able to set up a mini network between XP and Win 7 and share folders etc...

Not sure I'm understanding here. If I want to copy a file(s) from XP mode to Win7, I just right click>copy and then paste into Win7. Have you tried that?
