I certainly can't think of a place to get better answers than here, and this seems like a VERY simple question but I can't figure it out.

All my Word documents are listed in My Documents, view is set to "details ", and most are black. Some are blue. I wondered if the blue were "newer" but I realize that's not the reason.

Can anybody clear up this little question for me please? I'm expecting to slap my forehead with a "Duhhhh" when I learn the reason but am taking the risk anyway.

It helped immensely! I KNEW I'd be slapping my forehead, and I was right.

Google. I'd gone through so many "help" screens from MicroSoft without finding the answer I turned to WindowsBBS in desperation. Of course, as expected, I get the answer.

I would have NEVER guessed that file compression was the reason, nor that I had options.

    Thank you.

    Hi PhilS,

Your most welcome and thank you for taking the time to follow up your post with a response and having the gracious manners to add a "thank you ", although not required, it always adds additional pleasure.

I frequent a few different forums and usually appreciate the OP letting everyone know whether or not they had their problem solved.

I've also learned to look at the "join date ".

YOU AND I JOINED AT THE SAME TIME!!! Of course, you've posted a hundred times more than me.

BUT I'VE BEEN TO HOUSTON MANY TIMES and understand how much you have to stay indoors because of the heat and humidity. ;)

Done Arie! Thanks for 'holding my hand' on this "new to me" feature. I'd seen the 'resolved' labels but didn't realize it was up to me to declare it a done-deal.

I actually wish more forums had this feature!

You guys are always at the cutting edge, but I guess it goes with the intent of this forum.

    Phil
