Nice post jp I'm the opposite; you've mentioned 3 of my favourites. They may have been paid by the word (thats a fact), but they earned their pay and showed the world what you can do with the english language, as opposed to Clancy who proves your point and who will bore your as? off with 4 pages describing some nuclear tech.

I just finished reading James Patterson's "Sail." It was the first of his books and I found I had trouble putting it down. Fast read.

Just before and after, I read a couple of Janet Evanovich's books: "Hard Eight" and "Smitten." I like the way she writes.

Now, I'm having trouble picking what read next. The three choices I have are "Plainsong" by Kent Haruf, Frank Herbert's "Dune" series (makes me wish I still had my "Pern" collection), or Tolstoy's "War and Peace." "War and Peace" may win out becasue it's been years since I last read it.

    Hi Rhiannnonn,

Have you read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series?

Currently reading "The Gates of Rome" by Conn Iggulden. Excellent writer imo. Read his Genghis Khan book series which really turned me on to his writing.

    Hi jpChris!

No, I haven't read the "Outlander" series. Would this be the same "Outlander" that the Sean Connery movie of the same name came from?
