    OMG, Dr.Broni!

OK, when Avira updates its engine....not its database, mind you, I get an email delineating details of what got fixed and accomplished. It get bugs, U know. They also made something faster, said in last one other day.

Maybe when I first got it I signed up for this? I dunno. But if YOU don't get them, then I am unsubscribing....I do not understand what they say anyhow. I always read the list but understand none of it.

Thanks, you just gave me my answer.:D

Jilly, I'm assuming you don't use Avira Free? I tried this version on 2 comps and kept getting reminders to buy their Pro version. This was annoying screen pop ups which would display when using other programs.
I went to Google and Avira Forums and many other users were disturbed about this intrusion going on all the time and there were posts about registry changes to overcome it
I had one of Avira's updates completely upset my comp and went to their website for help to correct it, and basically their Techo was unable to help at all.
I fixed it myself by un-installing Avira and going back to Avast. Neil.:D

    Hey, Neil!

No, I do use Avira free. Given its engine and detection rate & database, I have no issues with the giant often red screen popping up.

I mean, we must never take excellent, precious freeware for granted, yes? Or any form of kindness and generosity. Well, I think.

They are, after all, in business to hopefully, make a deserved profit....and they sure ain't getting one from The Jilly. I just gently close the buy me window and say Thank U, Avira free for existing.

Let us count our blessings!!!!:) And, as usual, in all things, work toward a viable perspective, right?:)

I am so sorry you had the problem with them. And hope you like Avast, I never tried it, but hear it is very, very good!

The trick is disabling Avira's upgrade pop-up.

(Really---again---such nice graphics, Broni, so crisp and clear and unambiguous!)

I get it now. But I do not wanna be an ingrate and also violate their EULA. They have a right, way I see it. Anyhow, I like red.

Also, when it shows up, makes me happy that the database is being added to!!! I like the dynamic. Not unlike THE BODYGUARD.;)

Jilly, go to Avira's Forum and have a look at the complaints. Not everyone is prepared to have Sales pop ups (screen Flashes) when other brands of Free AV's don't.
I'm very happy with Avast as it is not a resource hog like some are and I have purchased Norton (Symantec) and had 5 minute delay waiting for the comp to start. AVG have had numerous probs with new versions, so I have settled for Avast which is currently in service on 6 Home comps.
As Broni stated - Avast has a very good rating for a free AV. Cheers Neil.:D

I hear ya. Course, I would never go near Symantic or the Mac. And I had terrible issues with AVG after certain point.

Again, for the reasons I posted, I do not mind the big red screens, esp given what they represent, I kinda like them. But we are each unique, right?:)

Thing is, you are doing what is right for you!!!!
