I'm currently running SuperAntiSpyware (XP Pro SP3) and just reinstalled Ad-Aware to fix the "lsdelete program not found" issue. Am I asking for trouble by running both these programs, or do they play nicely together? If not, I'll dump Ad-Aware because I paid for SuperAntiSpyware, only to be able to schedule scans during off hours. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi,

As fate (not) would have it, I had similar issue I posted here re Superantispy and Malwarebytes.

When you say "run," if you mean run both with real time protection, then, nothing will blow up but not a good idea, conflicts can occur.

Superanti only affords real time protection with the paid for version

If both versions in question have real time protection, and you let them both start wiht windows, disable than in one, remove that app from your start menu and allow the other to remain.

You can, obviously, and should, keep both updated and continue to scan with both of them so they can support each other in detection.

OK, trying to post between clients, I just saw what SP3851 did and I just should have pasted the same link. Sigh.

I would like to ad my two cents. I am running Avast Home, Malwarebytes, and Spybot. The avast (obvioulsy) is running in real time and so is the Spybot but the Malwarebytes I run manually about once a week just to clean up if anything got through. So far this little trio has worked superbly with no serious infections. Once in a while I will get something minor because I allowed it through my firewall. I hope this helps someone.

Thanks to all for a quick response. I've deactivated the real-time protection in Ad-Aware, and will use SuperAntiSpyware as my solo real-time program. I'll keep Ad-Aware for doing scans periodically.

    Hi,
Re the above, bottom line is you are comporting with the usual one antivirus app only, and, as I have learned here, one antimal running in real time.....but scan with as many others as you wish which are not running in real time.
