The "duh ding" usb sound the comp makes when an usb device is connected or disconected is delayed about 2 minutes.

Normally, most USB devices should be plugged in before you start the computer (except maybe for USB memory stick).

    Close IE.
Go Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools, and click on Internet Explorer (no add-ons). Same thing?

See, if same thing happens in Firefox.

I unplugged mouse to go upstairs where the wireless router is for better signal. Plugged it back in when I got downstairs. Usually would start working as I plugged it in.

should be plugged in before you start the computer
    Yeah, bad habit of mine....

Not a problem. I'm thinking fresh install of XP or maybe the comp is getting tired. Thanks for all your help. :)
