I jus got a new/used computer it has windows vista basic and an obsolescent copy of norton. I went to the control :confused:uninstall. It got to the end of the scroll bar and just stayed there. When it tried to rerun it it told me a version of the installer was already running and to wait. Can someone tell me how to easily remove the Norton?
    Thanks in advance

Follow up: I don't know what the policies re reg cleaners are on this site; I tell people I use and adore 3, and I get hit with golf clubs. Having said that, may I recommend the app by Comodo:
    http://download.cnet.com/Comodo-Registry-Cleaner/3000-2094_4-10895685.html

It is free, and, in my experience, it is safe & excellent; give option to backup the registry, tho not once have I ever.

If you get it and run it after you get rid of everything Symantec, it will find tons of uninstaller residue and remove all of it.

Jilly Reg Cleaners are dangerous (especially for beginners), and they don't save any discernable runtime.

If you want to discuss this further please start a new thread in general discussion.

Hi Robert, have you managed to clean out Norton? Mike Flynn has posted a procedure to follow on this subject which I used to clean out my comp. After using Norton's cleaner there are still an amazing number of Symantec and Norton keys still lying about in the comp. Do a search for Mike's post as I would swear by it. Happy New Year. Neil.:D

Robert, we are all thriled for you! Especially given the inner child in you needs no therapy to bring out of hiding!:D

But the thread does not appear as marked solved/resolved yet.

Lower of the two toolbars at the top>thread tools>choose marked as solved at the bottom of the dropdown menu.

And congrats again! No more needless bloat!
