Resolved Thunderbird 3 Message Pane Complaint

Does anyone know how to disable this window from showing? I know that I can disable the message pain, but I have a friend who wants it on classic view. He is unable to disable that part of the screen from showing.

It takes up a lot of space in the program when reading the message.

 

Hi sniper, I too did not want the preview window to show every time. I tried many attempts to get rid of it unsuccessfully. I finally found that I had installed the "Folderpane" add-on in the previous version of TB. This new version (3.0) did not flag it as incompatible but it seems to be in the classic view which I also like.

I deleted the Folderpane add-on and the preview window went away. It also allowed TB 3.0 to open up in the classic view with the Inbox selected, which is the way I like it.

 

Unfortunatley, did not work for me.

Solution for everyone, CompactHeader 1.0.1 Thunderbird Extension

Add symbol in header plane to switch between compact and expanded view. Options to switch between one or two lines compact view, which buttons should be displayed in header pane. Linkify RSS subject.

 

It works fine, with the nightly tester tools addon, installed first. Then, after restarting TB3.0, the extra folder addon's installation can be forced. I got so many opinion that I wish that the developers would restore the feature, without having to bang the head against the wall. The Mozilla Messaging get satisfaction is anything but that, and I can't respond because they are ignoring my request to reset the password, which I never knew I had. They won't let me sign on with another password, because, somehow they have my e-mail address.

 

I uninstalled Folder Pane and message pane did not come back.
