Resolved How do I remove 'forward lines' from a forwarded email?

When I receive an email that has been forwarded several times there are lines on the left. Now if it is a good one and I want to forward it the lines stay in the forwarded email. How do I remove the lines from my forward?
This was asked in January 2007 by LIS and did not get an answer.

Thanks for the try James. It removes the pictures and changes the fonts of all the good stuff. I can do that by saving as a text file. Thanks again but it did not work.

 

Hi Ron, I don't know whether this subject is still seeking an answer, but FWIW I copy and paste to MS Word where I can edit and correct, then copy and paste to email (Thunderbird) or use Office Outlook. I quite often get emails which are full of mistakes, so I correct them to the best of my ability. I have often received emails with the text full of >>>> and the sentence is all broken up. Neil.

 

Yes it is still open. I find that is a bit too much work just to forward an email. I was looking for something simple.

Well you can close this as resolved. Some of the answers worked and the one where you edit the source code worked the best. But they were all a pain in the a. Thanks all for your help.

 

The blue lines have bugged me for a long time so I finally spent some time playing with them tonight and found an answer that, at least for me, is acceptable if not perfect. I use Outlook for e-mail and Word (2003) as my editor. I found that if I place my cursor somewhere in the text that has the blue line beside it and then, on the menu bar, click on Format, Borders and Shading, and then on the None box, the blue line will disappear. Each verticle blue line must be removed individually, so that's four mouse clicks per blue line - a little pain but not bad. I also found that sometimes, but not always, if I place the cursor too far down in a section it doesn't work. It always worked, though, if I placed the cursor within the first few lines of text near the top of a blue line.
