Microsoft has performed pushed updates twice in the last three days to my XP SP3. I just noticed that there is a new folder on my D: drive (system files are on C: drive) that is dated 2 days ago. The folder name is "9bd5974d803550eec0dd5d3e" and it has two subfolders, "amd64" and "i386" .

Each of the subfolders have 7 files:
    filterpipelineprintproc.dll
    msxpsdrv.cat
    msxpsdrv.inf
    msxpsinc.gpd
    msxpsinc.ppd
    mxdwdrv.dll
    xpssvcs.dll

Is it safe to assume that this is leftover from the update(s), and that I can delete these?

MS says to delete the folder manually. If you get an "Access Denied" error, you'll have to take ownership of the folder or use some 3rd party tool to dump the folder upon reboot.

Thank you. I did get the error, tried several things, and finally was able to delete everything with the "unlocker" utility.
