When I compose and then try to send an e-mail, the message moves into the outbox folder. It isn't until I close the oulook express program that I observe that the message ghas been sent. I've chcked by settings and find nothing amiss therein. Any ideas welcomed.

    Do your setting include ....

Tools > Options > Send - 'Send messages immediately' is checked?

or do you hit Send/Receive once you have hit Send in the new message pane?

Yes I have that option but clicking on it does not result in the message in my outbox folder being transmitted. I have also set the option for messages to be sent immediately and that also doesn't work????

I suspect that your Outbox may be corrupted ....

Close OE and search for *.dbx - include hidden files & folders and delete Outbox.dbx.

Om opening OE it will be recreated - test.

Aster spending some tuime dtermining how to follow your suggestion I was able to find and then delete 6 outbox.dbx files. But much to my suprise eliminating these files, shutting down and then rebooting did not fix the problem. I still compose a message then send it and it dives into my out box-just as before. Anything else I may try??

Something radically wrong there - there should only be one.

    Let's get to basics .....

    Delete your Temporary Internet files.

    Reregister OE ....

    1. Click Start > Run.

    2. In the Open box, type msimn /reg > OK.
(Note that you will not see anything happen.)

    3. In Internet Explorer click Options on the Tools menu.

    4. Click the Programs tab and select Outlook Express as the default e-mail client and as the default news client. You can change those later if you wish.

Then reregister the OE library files ....

    Start > Run > type in regsvr32 urlmon.dll > OK

    Repeat ....

    regsvr32 mshtml.dll
    regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
    regsvr32 browseui.dll

Note that there is a space after 32 - copy/paste the commands into the Start > Run box.

Followeed your suggestions very carefully and repeated the process several times with the following results

urimon--load library failed. The specified module could not be found'

mshtml--dll was loaded but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered.

shdocvw and browseui loaded are were registered anew.

Have got to clear this problem so anything further I can try will help.

Check you used this command - regsvr32 urlmon.dll - your post has a typo in it ....urimon

Further suggestion - create a new identity - yours maybe corrupted.
