    Windows 2000 5.0 build 2195 SP 4

On start-up, after entering password everything starts loading. After several seconds, there's a double beep.

Does anyone have any idea what it is, and how to check it?

    Thanx

    Moved to Hardware ....

See BIOS Beep Codes- looks like a memory problem.

I’m afraid you misunderstood. These beeps come after windows has started and the startup programs are coming up.

My apologies - I misread your post :(

It may be a Windows sound - I am not familiar with Win 2k or one associated with one of the startup programs.

OTH it may be associated with the specific make of computer.

You will need to do some sleuthing - try disabling all the non MS startups and re-enable one at a time to try to isolate the cause. A recent software install or update may be the cause.

    Moved back to Windows 2000

    No problem.

If it’s a windows sound, it’s a new one. I’ve had this box for at least 8 years and never heard it until recently.

I don’t mind sleuthing, but I don’t know how to "disable" startup programs. The only think I’ve installed the last couple years is windows updates.

    Thanx again.

I use Starter to control my startups - said to be for all Win.
