I have a 16 Gig thumb drive that I leave in my computer all the time. Just the other day I was looking for a certain file I have stored on the drive, and the name of the file was there, but when I opened it up all I got was a bunch of boxes and other symbols. The file had also replicated itself about 15-20 times. Is there anything I can do to get the corrupted files back the way they should be?

    Thank you ion advance.:(

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

What type of file was it?
Sure sounds like you have data corruption and the odds of getting the data back are slim.

Most of the files are word processing (doc) format. A few of them are (pdf) usually e-books. I have seen programs that supposedly restore your files, but do they really work.?:confused:

A program like the following does a good job of recovering deleted files...Not sure if it'll help in your case.

Recuva (pronounced "recover ") is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!
