    Hi,

I have IE 6 on computer but never use it and have it pretty locked up as per an article from here:

"How to surf the Internet more safely with Internet Explorer. "

I use FF or Opera when I surf.

My problem is that I was told that Adobe Flash Player has to be updated even though you don't use the browser and I am running ver 9.0 on IE.

Need steps to get this installed. I try to download it but nothing happens.
    Please help.

Hi Ann. In addition to the links broni provided, make sure you uninstall any previous versions of Adobe Flash Player before installing the new version. Also even if you aren't using IE6, I would recommend that you update to Internet Explorer 8 to be on the safe side. Download Internet Explorer 8.

Thanks broni. This site is a bit more user friendly than Adobe's.

Is it absolutely necessary to uninstall prior to installing a newer version? I have printed out instructions and will attempt to uninstall.

Evan, Thanks for your reply, but I have chosen not to upgrade IE to 7 or 8. I'll stick with IE6. Now, I may not be able to install Flash because IE has everything that I could disable, disabled. I do not know what has to be changed back.

I would first just test to see if flash player will install. If it installs, great. But if it doesn't then let me know and we will go from there.

    Ok, Evan.

BTW, do I first have to remove Flash Player from Add/Remove and then run the Adobe uninstaller or do I just run the Adobe uninstaller?

    Evan,

All done. Ran the uninstaller and was able to install Flash for IE and FF.

I was able to copy the output information for FF install but not for the IE. The information that gives you the path for the install.

Thanks to all for the help.
