pc not starting properly

    Sorry :confused: - is what normal?
    Kill the scan - there is the option not to scan?

    The drive clearly has problems - I would not hesitate dumping it, but I am trying to help you recover to an operational system. Have you tried my suggestions using the Recovery Console?

    I am well aware that you have attempted a repair install before, but that was before the drive was 'repaired'.

    will try as now my friend took the hard drive to try backing it on her external drive...will let her know and get back to you

    D: keeps scanning every time I reboot
    with normal I meant....is it normal that after a repair it starts installing windows?

    During the repair process setup is run - take a look at this article which shows screen shots of each stage of the repair process .....

    Is this what you mean?

    yes when it comes to the step where it tells me that it's installing windows it then re-started from scratch :(

    Unless others who may be following this thread have other ideas I would suggest a clean install with full format - providing that you have been able to copy all your data off.

    At the same time I would suggest that you replace the drive anyway - I, for one, would have no confidence in it.
