not a DVD writer

I bought Memorex Simple Save Photo & Video Back-Up disc, to download my pictures. After I inserted the disc, a window stated,'' The current drive is not a DVD-Writer or cannot write to disk, even though it says on the front of the tower SONY DVD ROM.

Sorry to say but DVD ROM is read only, it's not a writer.

 

How can I download music To a CD, or is that different? Can I get a DVD writer? If so, what kind should I use?

 

From what you have posted, your drive is read only it cannot write to CD or DVD.

Your choices are...

1. An older desktop then go for an internal PATA DVD writer.
2. A more modern desktop then go for an internal SATA DVD writer.
3. An older laptop then go for an internal laptop PATA DVD writer.
4. A modern laptop then go for an internal laptop SATA DVD writer.
5. For ease of installation and to cover all your bases go for an external USB DVD writer (as long as your system has USB)

Option 5 allows you to swap the drive from one computer to another.
