I have Seagate Disc Wizard, but apparently it does not do the job.
Is there anything else that's a freebie I can use?

Would be helpful to post which OS you are using.

    Chas,
Seagate Disk Wizard will only work as long as you have a Seagate drive installed!
Are you tring to modify the partion/s before or after an installation?
And as Pete suggested what O/S are you using at the time?

    Regards Jac

Whatever software you use make sure that you have a current backup of all data on all partitions likely to be affected by re-sizing.

    PeteC,

Good point. Fortunately Easeus presents this caution "to backup data" before Moving or Resizing any partition.

    OS is Windows XP Pro.
The drives are Seagate, though when I looked at the software I didn't see anything for changing partition sizes. Where do I look for this?
Pete, Thx for mentioning the backup, I would have overlooked that.

Have you personally used Partition Master? I have heard it recommended before, but each time, it is always they heard it was good, not that they used it and it was good. You know, "my brother-in-law has a cousin who has a friend, and his neighbor tried it and said it worked good." ;)

Never heard of it. Do you have another suggestion?
Or can you tell me where to find what I'm looking for in Seagate Disc Wizard?

    I was hoping you'd have a suggestion.
So why the edge? Why criticise a member for making a valid suggestion?
We're here to help and encourage ea other, no? :)

I am not criticizing at all - I said nothing against derfsch or the product he recommended. Please do not twist my words around. I asked if he has personal experience, and I stated why I wanted to know, giving a tongue-in-cheek example of why. Hardly a criticism.

It is important to know if people have personal experience with the products they recommend because sadly, they often do not. When I recommend a product, I have used it, or a trusted colleague has used it, or I say I have never used it.

If derfsch comes back and said he has used it, or even if he said a "trusted friend" used it, that would be reassuring. If derfsch were a recognized member of the staff here, or had some other verifiable credentials, I would be inclined to recommend it. Or if he had more than just a couple hundred posts and did not claim he has "minimal" computer experience, I might be inclined to recommend it. But since none of the above can be verified, I will believe him when he says his own computer experience is minimal. Since I know bad guys troll forums too, we all need to be careful with the advice we get, and as providers, give.

We are not talking about a simple spell checker - but rather a program that has the potential of destroying all the data on a disk. As you noted, you have never heard of this program. You were hoping I would recommend another, the only two I have experience with are commercial products, Partition Magic, and Acronis True Image. Of the two PM was easier.

    Bill,

Yes, I have used and continue to use the Easeus Partition Master. I do not consider myself a computer expert but I was impressed with the simple approach which made even a klutz like me able to adjust my partition sizes. Apparently the Master part of the name is a recent change, as I remember the name Partition xxxxxxx sounded too much like another commercial product.
