I am wanting to know how to do a few things using this software, and I hope that you could help me, I am trying to create a word logo. When I open a new file, and I go to the toolbox and I tried to click text, and I type the word that I want to decorate, when the GIMP text editor comes up, I can't never get pass that. I don't know how to ask it, but I don't know how to continue, how to edit it, how to pick the font I want, how to change the color, and etc. Can someone please help me, and give me some advice? Thanks!

Sorry, not a Gimp2 user. Until someone with working knowledge chimes in, you could check out this Google search for Gimp2 Tutorial video's

    UPDATE
If you choose to watch a video, generally to the right on same page you are viewing are additional videos selections of the same subject. Be sure you select Gimp 2 videos for better suggestions.

    1. Open a new image.
    2. In Toolbox window click on the text icon (A).
    3. Below the icons are settings for the color, below the color selector are other text settings, select Font by clicking Font: button (Aa), select size and unit of measurement.
    4. Select other text settings such as Hinting, Antialias, Justify, etc.
    5. Click in image window and type the text in the dialog (checkmark button "use selected font ").
    6. Click the Close button when done typing.
