    A happy Easter to all.

Recently I bought a new laptop, an Acer Aspire 4315-2904. The OS isWindows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1. Processor: 2.13 gigahertz Intel Celeron 560, 64 kilobyte primary memory cache, 1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache. Drives: 149.55 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive capacity, 122.48 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space..

Here is an issue I'd like solved if possible: Many times while I am using the pc, a note comes up saying, "Acer eNet Tray has stopped working ... A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I haven't seen the solution yet!

Maybe someone else has encountered this situation and can help.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

"Acer eNet Tray has stopped woorking... "

Thanks Matt, will look into this. I would like to get the eNet management to work, as they say it can help to access wireless internet. I find the directions given on my pc difficult to follow..

Do you have trouble connecting to the internet? Does your internet drop out when eNet is closed? That's what I would expect would happen.

Did somebody help you set up your network (internet)? Did you make any settings yourself for the network, in eNet?

I don't know the program, you can try uninstalling it and restalling it, that should(?) reset it's settings, then you could start again.

If you use it to connect to the internet, you may want to try contacting your internet supplier's (ISP) support system and see if they know the eNet connection system.

No Matt, I don't have any trouble connecting to the internet at all. In fact when I first booted up the pc it seems that I was already on the internet ... that is what a note said when I tried to fill in the items that my ISP requires to send and receive mails (PoP3, Incoming and outgoing mail, etc). At that point I was able to surf the net, but I was not too sure I could send and receive emails, so I filled in the info required by my ISP.

The eNet is a different story. If you look at the first link you sent to me, you'd see what I mean. There are a number of pages to fill out and they say that if you don't know some of the info asked for, that's ok, they will fill it in. I believe that by some trial and error I could get it to work. Most likely one of the techs at the store I bought the pc from can do it, but I'd have to take it back there, which I don't want to do at the moment.

Just this morning a friend told me he bought a new Toshiba laptop and all he has to do to activate wireless is turn on a switch in front of the pc (or on the side). THAT IS ALL! Then he can drive to a "hot spot" and access the internet for as long as he likes!

I expect you have set your networking using Vista's network setup "wizard ". If you wish to use Toshiba's (eNet) system you will need to "wipe" the settings and start again.

Basically, I think you have chosen Windows/Vista's network setup system rather than Toshiba's network setup system (eNet). Windows networking wizard sets up "generally ", eNet would have all the system information available.

Your friend may have their internet connection already set up and then gotten eNet(?) to connect to it (you mentioned Wireless, but your system appears to be Broadband).

Setup instructions for networking need to find out if you already have a connection established. This may be the difference if you choose a Yes/No answer.

If you have a good networking connection, I recommend you stick with it. If eNet has to close and your network (including internet) system still works and the error messages are annoying you, look at disabling eNet...stopping it from loading at startup or uninstalling it, you seem to be working on Window's networking system.

To me, it seems to be the way you set up the networking system.

Well Matt, thanks, but I don't think I am understanding what you are saying. (you understand that my laptop is an Acer, not a Toshiba). I don't want to network with other pc's, I just wanted to have the ability to be able to use the wireless if I take the pc out of the house. This may seldiom happen..

I guess I will check this out with the dealer..

Another little messy thing happened: the new Canon printer would not print anymore. I been scrounging around a couple hours last night and most of the day today trying to get it to print again, to no avail. Do you have any ideas on this. Sent a msg to Canon USA, but they said they don't sell or support my Canon PIXMA iP1900 printer. Told me to ckeck with the UK who supports this. Wondering if I delete it and re-install, would that help. It came with an installation disc.

Got a little mixed up Acer/Toshiba.

I don't see where it says in the eNet Management guide about not needing to fill in the "settings" if you don't know them. Are you thinking about setting up the email?

eNet makes network connection profiles. I suggest you go into eNet Management and delete any profile listings you have now, then make a new profile (click on the Save button), you need to be connected to your internet.
When it asks what to name the profile, call it something like "Home Connection ", you should not need to make any manual settings.

That will make a profile for your home network (internet connection). When you connect to another network
you will need to make a new profile for those and you might need to use the "manual" instructions.

Printer, if you are going to delete it, I suggest you go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features and uninstall any Canon listings there. Go to Control Panel -> Printers and delete any Canon listing there, if there is any. Disconnect the printer and restart the computer. when you restart, put the drivers/software CD in and follow the setup instructions.

If you have any further problems with the printer, start a new thread (in the Hardware forum, but state you run Vista).
