I went to their web site and found:

    March 19, 2009
    SeaMonkey 1.1.15 Released
Today, the SeaMonkey project released a new version of its all-in-one internet suite. SeaMonkey 1.1.15 closes several security vulnerabilities and fixes several smaller problems found in previous versions.

The update brings Seamonkey up to the Firefox level.

Sounds like it is worth installing and should be relatively painless.

I installed 1.1.15 on top of 1.1.14. The only problem was that any third party software would be uninstalled before installing the new version. That means that any add-on installed in the program, and not in the profile, would be removed.

Did you uninstall 1.1.14 afterwards? I installed SeaMonkey over Netscape 7.2 and unistalled 7.2 after due to a file sharing issue. Uninstall didn't get everything, so I went on a search and destroy mission. I am not yet sure I got everything. Looking for old SeaMonkey files would be harder because the names could be the same as new files. Perhaps uninstall first would be cleaner.
By third party software, do you mean Java, FlashPlayer, and etc?

Ken, For what it's worth, I always un-install the old version first.

I just now removed SM 1.1.14 and the removal screen informed me all the files were not removed with the option to remove the folders or not. I choose not to delete the folder where SM 1.1.14 was installed.

I then used Windows Explorer and went to the folder where I keep Seamonkey which is in the path of C:\2-NET\SM-114 and it showed only a log file.

I deleted the log file and renamed the Seamonkey folder to SM-115.

With the exception of the Microsoft stuff, I do not use the default settings to install Seamonkey, all my internet programs, Seamonkey, Firefox, Thunderbird, FTP, etc., etc., are installed under the folder C:\2-NET

I next rebooted the computer just to clear out all the cobwebs prior to installing SM 1.1.15

I then installed SM-1.1.15 using a custom install and checked only the "Mail & Newsgroup" and "Spell Checker" on the options window.

I choose not to install "Chatzilla" -- "Debugger" -- "Inspector" and "Roaming Web Site Reporter" because frankly I don't know what they are and if I don't know what they are, I figure I don't need them so why clutter up the hard drive.

Once a new version is downloaded, it takes less then 5 minutes to remove the old version, erase any files left, reboot and install the new version. So, I don't try to take short cuts and I think that keeps me out of trouble most of the time.

Been doing it this way since version 1.0.0 of Seamonkey and I can't recall ever having a problem with installing any new version and I have used them all from SM 1.0.0 forward.

I might also tell you I do not use the default settings for the profiles or mail.

I keep the profiles on an internal hard drive in a path of D:\PROFILES.

My profile names always include the year and I also change the mail stowage folder to a path that looks similar to this: D:\PROFILES\RAY-2008\2xlk8x0k\Mail\RS-BELL

Even if I only had a C drive, I would still keep my profiles and mail folders where they are easy to get too and I would use the same path except for the drive designation.

    My 2 cents, Ray

. No need to that, as 1.1.15 replaced 1.1.14.
. SeaMonkey and Netscape are different programs, so you can't install on top. Both programs should be around. But, since SeaMonkey and Netscape can share the same profile, there is bound to be trouble. Ideally, one should uninstall Netscape, first, or create a new profile for the latecomer, which I did. I have had no Netscape for one year, though.
Of course, the Plugins, and a few other folders would remain after uninstalling, but they are available only for Netscape.
    True, but not necessary.
No, they are in the Plugins folder. Whatever would be in the Chrome folder, which is not native to SeaMonkey. Since, I don't have 1.1.14 to compare against 1.1.15, I would not know.

    Ken,

The third party software Westside mentions, refers to Add-ons/Extensions. See THIS reply.
