Brother 35 - is that a word processing program? If so, you can't convert it...You mihgt maybe be able to convert files that it creates to Word Docs.

    Give us more information.

Yes, it is a word processing program. We have many files on disks that we want to read and save in WORD.

What happens/doesn't happen when you try to open the files in Word?

Message appears: "Cannot read do you want to format ". I am helping a friend, so I will have to wait for him to try to go further. I do know the files are .WPT and I haven't found a converter to WORD file format.

The message would indicate that either the floppy disk is dirty/damaged or the floppy drive is.

Couldn't it also mean that WORD cannot read the .WPT file format and is offering to erase the disk so WORD can use it?

No Word wouldn't want to format the floppy.
I bet you get the same error if you try to look at the files via My Computer.
