Pen Drive becoming hot

    Hello everyone,
    I have iball 1 GB pen drive. It used to work fine upto now.
    Recently the strip in between the pen drive came out. But now when
    i insert drive into usb port it heats and the led does not glow and the
    computer does not show me anything .I have some vital information in the pen drive
    Is there a way to get data from my pen drive. is my pen drive dead. i glued the strip to plastic cover with fevicol .but still no result. help if possible.

    Have you looked in Disk Management? (Right-click on My computer and select Manage.) Can you see it in Safely Remove Hardware?

    If it gets hot, that may be a bad sign.

    See if there is an iBall website and look for utilities or say, a firmware update.

    Do a websearch for "data recovery" and add the term USB. There are some utilities that profess to be able to recover data from those drives.

    Pen drive(s) are more susceptible to data loss then CD/DVD's, so not a good idea to hold vital data without backup.
