sry if this is supposed to be in Networking.

I have setup a wireless Network at home using the WRT54GS Linksys router (firmware Modified by My ISP).

My sister Has the Satellite Pro M30 Laptop, and she always had trouble with the Network (can't connect from adjoining rooms we have concrete walls here), I always assumed the router was damaged due to frequent power failures, since she always complained that she only has trouble at home.

this week we got a new laptop the Toshiba Portege A600-133, and quickly i noticed it has no problem what so ever connecting i tried it from all over the house.

so im thinking the problem is from the Wireless Network Card:
    Intel(R) PRO/ Wireless 2200BG Network Connection.

    what im not sure is:
    -is it damaged?
    -does it need driver/firmware update?
-is it working fine, the difference in connectivity between the 2 PCs is due to new techs etc....

I tried checking the Intel website but decided not to install anything yet (here are the results):
Intel® PRO/Wireless and WiFi Link Drivers-Only for Windows* XP
Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility for Windows* XP 32-Bit

there was this as well but i know i do not need it:
IT Administrators - Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility for Windows* XP and Windows Vista*

PS when the PC was still under warranty it was sent to the shop multiple times because of said card (if i remember correctly they even replaced it at some point) but that was a while ago PC is 4 maybe 5 years old.

edit: found no updates on Windows update either

In those links, note that Intel recommend you get the drivers from the laptop manufacturer. The laptop manufacturer might include associated software which may be a factor in the problem.

    Here is the home page:
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection
Check through the links they offer. Toshiba should have similar information.

"...since she always complained that she only has trouble at home ". Look at the settings, like what channel it is using. Check what modifications have been made to the router and the best settings for connection. The ISP should have instructions and FAQs available.

that network card is not associated to my laptop (plus my laptop isnt even mentioned on Toshiba.com, not too sure when exactly we got but but its a 1.5GHZ centrino)

ISP is a slight over statement, its more like a bunch of guys who have setup a wireless covering a huge portion of the country and sell Bandwidth off there SATGATE connection.

im thinking set a system restore point and try installing "Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility for Windows* XP 32-Bit. "

You don't specify your location. Toshiba have different models in different world locations. For example, I find a model M30X-S1592ST. Try seaching from this page:
    http://www.toshiba.co.jp/worldwide/index.html
Check the model information on the on the underside of the laptop.

    They are in Toshiba UK
    http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe....action=search&teddProduct=527&selShortMod=361
    For product type, select Archive.

The PMS30E is listed as a Satellite model, not Satellite Pro.

The PMS30A is listed at the Australian website (A would be for Australia), they specify the Intel 2200bg drivers there. They would probably work.

Anyway, you now have a source of all the rest of the drivers.
