Windows Vista Update KB937287 installs over and over

    I've been installing this update, each time it says it was successful, but then it comes back. Can anyone help with this?

    If it had all these errors, why would it say the update was successful?

    Try to manually install the update. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start > All Programs, and then click Windows Update (or Microsoft Update).
    2. Click Express or Custom to scan for available updates.
    3. After the scan finishes, follow the instructions on the screen to install the updates that you want.

    I'm sure Evan's suggestion is appreciated and should be considered but only after clearly establishing if the manual update worked to clear up this problem. Hopefully Jaredvcxz2 will return to clarify whether his attempt at going to Microsoft update directly and installing this update worked. His answer was incomplete.

    The following references are included only for informative reasons;

    In reference to the log file, when the windowsupdate.log reflects the common dialogue, as shown in Jaredvcxz2's,
    *this is what one might expect to see when periods of heavy download traffic, causes the Automatic Updates service to reschedule download requests on a day-to-day basis.
    *This rescheduling can occur over several days. The update will usually be downloaded and installed in several days.
    *You can wait it out or manually install the update and often take care of this.
    *If the update continues to be a problem then additional steps can be taken to figure out what the malfunction is.

    The update in question kb938371 appears to be a rerelease of the original update. This rereleased version includes additional performance and reliability enhancements that apply to both Windows Vista-based and Windows Vista Service Pack 1-based systems.

    The original update was applicable only to Windows Vista-based systems. Users who have already installed Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will only install the new components in this rereleased update.

    Sorry I haven't posted, I was kinda procrastinating.



    So: I hid the update, and a few more updates were installed. Now my computer says I'm completely updated, but I still can't install SP1 or IE8 because of a lack of updates.

    Should I try un-hiding 937287 to see if the updates I installed will allow me to install it?

    Try downloading Service Pack 1 from here. See if you get it to install manually. If SP1 installs without a problem then also download Internet Explorer 8 from here. See if those two updates will install. Make sure you shut down all background programs that are running in the system tray before you attempt to install the updates.

    I just got a batch of nine updates(Mostly security), so I think I'm doing good. I'll try installing SP1 again.
