Sorry if this has come up before, did a search but couldn't find anything. My laptop, (Advent 9415) seems to have a problem connecting to the internet after sleep mode, it says there is limited connectivity. I have to reboot to get connected again. It runs on Vista Home Premium and the wireless adapter is a Realtek RTL8187B. I've had this problem since I bought the laptop but it's really getting frustrating now!

    This may help:
Go to Control Panel > Classic View > Network & Sharing Center > Manage Network Connections (in the left pane) and right-click on the connection you‘re using > Properties. Now remove the tick from the IPv6 box. If it makes no difference or causes problems it is completely reversible by ticking the box.

There will be some settings in Power Management that regulate wifi states when in sleep mode & hibernation. Available via Control Panel > Pwr Mgmt or the wifi connection/adapter properties.

Hi, thanks for the replies, I tried BurrWalnut's solution and it seems to be working, I've only tried it once so fingers crossed it keeps working! Thank you both for your help,
    Regards, Seoras

I'm glad it worked and thanks for letting us know.

Incidentally, do you have SP1 installed?

I have Version 6 (Build 6001: Service Pack 1). Incidentally, I've put the laptop in sleep mode a few times now and it's connecting fine when I "wake it up ", thanks again:).

Once again, thank you for posting back.

I asked about SP1 as this error was somewhat prevalent prior to SP1 being introduced. It's obviously still there in certain circumstances.
