Whenever I go to a website it states "could not perform. default mail client is not properly installed." What is this? How do I fix it?

    Thanks.

    Hi May,

    Welcome to the boards. :D

Does this happen with any website or only when you are trying to send an email?

What is your default mail client (Outlook, Outlook Express etc)?

    May

Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Programs and select your mailer from the Email dropdown list. Should fix it :)

    Pete,

I'm concerned about whether it should be fixed right now.

May's post suggested all websites and I was wondering if anything malicous was working in the background. Obviously if it's only mail to links that cause the error then May should follow your advice.

It won't do any harm IMO, and was the solution to a similar thread some days ago.

Fair enough, I'm just curious why websites don't work because the default mailer isn't set up

    Thanks Pete,

Let's wait and see what May has to say...

You're probably correct though and I suspect this issue is when replying to mail to's rather than normal surfing.

To locate the Tools open the IE, look on the menu line for the little House (Home).
Next is the RSS, then the Printer, then Page, then Tools.

What email client do you use?

You must stick with the same thread for continuation of the same problem otherwise it gets very confusing - I did not receive notification of your new post since it was in a new thread to which I am not subscribed as I have not responded. Threads merged.

I may have added to your confusion by baldly stating ....
assuming that you had IE set to show the menu bar - clearly you do not.

To display the menu bar right click in blank space in the window header - alongside the Home icon will do and check Menu Bar.

You will then see menu bar - File - Edit - View - Favorites - Tools - Help.
